Ride Through the Forest/Bill L.

parking lot next to Shell on Kirkwood and US59

Saturday is the Forests ride! We’ll be riding through three of our taxpayer funded National Forests. Come along and see something that’s good about paying taxes! We’ll start at the parking lot next to the Shell station by the dealership. Unfortunately for us, the forests are up north of Houston, so we’ll meet at 0700 with KSU at 0730. After a quick ride up I69, we’ll ride through the Sam Houston NF through Coldspring and Point Blank. We’ll continue north and ride through the Davy Crockett NF, then east through the Angelina NF. We’ll have lunch at The Eagles Nest in Zavalla. Then we head south through Woodville and Livingston back to Houston. We’ll even spend a couple of miles in the Big Thicket National Preserve! The ride ends near the intersection of I69 and the Beltway in Humble at around 3:30. If things go according to plan, it’ll be about 335 miles. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dyrgx5iku5alx39/forest%20ride.pdf?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/x7mpyc049jl38mp/Forests%20ride.gpx?dl=0

Saddle River Range

parking lot next to Shell on Kirkwood and US59

Sunday Ride to the Saddle River Range for some shootin’! We’re riding to the Saddle River Range in Conroe on Sunday, April 18. We’ll meet at the parking lot next to the Shell station at the corner of Hwy 59 and Kirkwood @ 8:30 with KSU @ 9:00. It’ll be a leisurely ride through the countryside with a rest stop at the Buc-ee’s in Cypress, about 1:15 into the ride. There will be a gas stop just before arriving at the range, about 90 miles after we leave. If things go according to plan, we’ll arrive at the range at about 11:30. There’s a café at the range; we’ll have lunch there. From there, we’ll have another leisurely ride through the countryside and end up in Sealy at about 3:00. The total ride is about 190 miles. (I’ve allocated about two hours at the range: The actual return time depends on how much time we spend at there, which of course depends on how much fun we’re having…) The range fee is $22 for one shooter in one pistol lane for one hour. It’s an additional $13 for a second shooter sharing the same lane. The range has gun rentals, ammo sales, a simulator (which sounds fun!), and something called “Archery Assault” (which sounds REALLY fun!). Saddle River GPX Saddle River PDF
